Demo of Former Gas Station in Mills50 Paves Way For New Gas Station

By Ken Storey

7-Eleven continues its major expansion throughout Orlando.  In just a few years the downtown area has gained three new 7-Elevens.  Mills50 has a small retail only store on Mills Ave.  On April 1, 2013 Mills50 next 7-Eleven began with the destruction of a former gas station.  The property at the corner of Colonial and Fern Creek Ave (1600 E Colonial Drive, Orlando) was most recently used as a scooter store. Last year 7-Eleven opened 630 stores across the country, locally the most recent store to open is the urban style location with fuel at the corner of Edgewater Dr and Colonial Dr.  Another retail only location is planned for the former Blank Space at the corner of Rosalind and Central in downtown.  While you might think that we have too many 7-Elevens in Orlando take a check out this look at Hong Kong 7-Elevens and how many they have.  Sadly there is still no word on 7-Eleven bringing the mashed potato machines to America.

By lunchtime major progress had been made in the demo on Colonial and Fern Creek.

By the evening the store was just a memory, already the corner was looking cleaner.
