#CFLblogcon Central Florida Blogger Conference

By Mark Baratelli

The Orlando-based blog Central Florida Top 5 is producing the inaugural Central Florida Blogger Conference July 16, 2011 at Park Maitland School (1450 N. Orlando Ave., Maitland, FL 32751). I am personally thrilled this is happening. The teensy Orlando blogging community needs to GROW in my opinion, and its events like this that help do just that. I think there are far more voices out there that need to be heard, and I hope they all attend this event for inspiration to get out there and get online. Kudos to Bess and her husband for getting this off the ground from scratch.

Several local marketers and bloggers will be speaking on all sorts of blog-centeric topics, both beginner and advanced in nature.

The event's producer, Bess Auer, asked us to come up with subject to speak about at this conference. I wanted to do a talk about scooping the traditional media (which I love to do) but that subject is already being talked about by another presenter. So, I am doing a brief talk about the pros, cons and whats involved in taking your blog offline at live events. I'll share case studies from The Daily City's brief history (2007-present) on our attempts at live events including the Orlando Indie Media MeetUp, Orlando Food Truck BazaarOrlando Improv FestivalMobile Art ShowAudience Choice AwardsTaco Truck Taste TestMeeting of the Orlando Minds and Panel Series to name, well, all of them. Below is more about the conference and less about us and all the free time we have:

About: Make plans now to attend the Central Florida Blogger Conference. It is perfect for beginning bloggers and seasoned pros. Whether you blog as a hobby, for your business or as a public relations professional, you’ll be sure to learn new strategies to build your brand, influence in your community, and make new friends. And bring your computer along, as wi-fi is available campus-wide!

In the Morning: Learn specific steps to build a better blog, regardless if you are an old pro or just starting out. Listen to bloggers who have “been there, done that” and have discovered the best practices for blogging in a variety of fields: fitbloggers, fashion bloggers, foodies, travel bloggers, etc. Generate more page views, bring down your bounce rate, raise your Google page rank, and become an influencer in social media. If all that sounds too technical, we have a sessions for beginner bloggers that will translate it all for you too!

In the Afternoon: Discover tips to publicize your blog. Learn how to navigate the world of Twitter and Facebook and make them work for you. Gain more readers and name recognition through “check ins” and maybe even go viral on Youtube. Learn how to monetize your blog through banner ads, affiliate networks, partnerships with local businesses, selling products/services and more.

In the Evening: Meet and greet, mix and mingle at the Social Mixer at Enzian Bar. Here’s your chance to not only network with fellow bloggers (maybe find a mentor?) but to also connect with the PR and Marketing professionals who will be there mingling. They are there to meet YOU and learn how to get their clients on to your blog!
