If want to show your support for the group "Food Not Bombs," there's a demonstration planned on Saturday, July 16, 2011, 5:30pm - 9:30pm at Lake Eola Park (227 North Eola Dr # A, Orlando, FL). If you bring food, you may be arrested, warns one of the organizers, Lance R Vick (Lance@lrvick.net).

If you think that a law forbidding the public from sharing food with anyone that "appears" to be homeless in our community park areas is an act of prejudice, then we need your voice. This event is open to church groups, college groups, Food not Bombs members, and individuals of all faiths and backgrounds.
We need two types of people at this event:
A: People who have the ability to risk spending a night or two in Orlandos jail, and don't mind having a misdemeanor on their record for "feeding the homeless". (Would probably make your job/college applications look more interesting if anything). These people would perform the actual act of distributing food to the homeless and will be the only ones in violation of the law.
B: People who for whatever reason have obligations or commitments that would be endangered if they were to be arrested for any reason. These people can bring food of all kinds, potluck style to give to group A for distribution, and are willing to stick around, take video and pictures, make new friends, and get to know some of our cities amazing homeless people in a safe public setting.
Note:
We have been informed the the actual act of BRINGING food to the park with the intent of sharing it qualifies you for arrest. Anyone not wanting to be arrested that wishes to help by bringing food, needs to ensure it gets to someone in group A BEFORE they reach the park. Please let Lance or Jen know if this applies to you and we can make arrangements.
