About:
Orlando Science Center will host its quarterly event Cocktails and Cosmos for its 7th year running on June 18 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. for guests 18 and up. An event known for its scientifically inclined social experience, Cocktails and Cosmos “Where Science Meets Rock n’ Roll,” will host a Happy Hour filled with a wide array of food and drink specials, followed by an evening of art, fashion and music, including access to the world premiere of the new exhibit, “GUITAR: The Instrument That Rocked the World.”

This popular social extravaganza kicks off with happy hour specials from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Science Park where the socially inclined are invited to enjoy a cash bar of Happy Hour drink specials provided by Ember, located in the heart of downtown Orlando. Light hors d’oeuvres will be provided by Sushi 101, known for their unique ROLL – EAT – PLAY concept created by two college graduates, John Nelson and Rami Omar.

Don’t miss the fashion show brought to you by Alta Moda Salon and Be Boutique and Hair Design. Alta Moda Salon will be using their commitment to achieving “a higher sense of style” in order to encourage the growth of inspirational culture that helps to motivate their design teams located along Lake Eola in the beautiful Thorton Park, downtown Orlando. Be Boutique and Hair Salon, also located in the heart of Thorton Park, will be adding their touch of European-style warmth to the show with creator and fashionista Edith Colon and hair stylist Mychael Peters Humphries.

At 8 p.m. prepare to rock-out with product specialist for Taylor Guitars and accomplished artist, Marc Seal. Marc Seal’s solo performance will be complimented by the new exhibit “GUITAR: The Instrument That Rocked the World” as a fitting backdrop. For more information on Marc Seal, please visit: http://www.marcseal.com/index.php. The exhibit offers guitar enthusiasts an opportunity to journey through the history and evolution of the guitar and examine the science of sound with engaging displays that pay homage to the guitar as one of the most widely recognized cultural symbols of the day.

The display is catered to your inner musician, allowing you to enter a virtual stage and rock-out with your best rendition of your favorite guitar solo. Be sure to venture over to the interactive kiosks outlining the sound-producing capabilities of all the guitar’s pieces. The exhibit also boasts a display of incredible celebrity guitars like the Gibson Firebird held by rock legend Johnny Winter and Vic Flick’s Essex Paragon used to create the memorable “James Bond” theme. There is plenty more for the music-junky to explore in this spectacular exhibit dedicated to the guitar.

Todd Morgan and his brother Scott, creators of Harmonious Universe Inc., will be setting the scene of the night with their Art Mural Project (AMP) experience. Harmonious Universe is known for their event entertainment and team building exercises. The AMP experience combines multi-media elements and music, rewarding participants with a visceral experience that lives beyond the moment through stories and the mural itself.

Later in the evening, visitors can also venture atop the Science Center and enjoy stargazing in the Crosby Observatory through the largest publicly accessible refractor telescope in the state.
