"Darker Shades of Red" runs September 27, 2011- January 8, 2012 at the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens (633 Osceola Avenue, Winter Park, Florida 32789).
The show revisits the Cold War era through Soviet Union official imagery (posters & ephemera) and reveals the economic, social and political ideology of the Soviet Union from the 1940s to 1991.
The pieces on exhibit are drawn from the private collection of Gary Hollingsworth, an Orlando-based art restorer who traveled extensively in the former Soviet Union.
Museum hours: Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Sunday 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Admission fees are charged as follows: adults (18-59) $5, seniors (60+) $4, students (age 12 through college) $3, with members and children age 12 and under free. For more information, call 407-647-6294.
