PechaKucha Orlando in Downtown Orlando

Orlando's 3rd PechaKucha Night is Friday, September 2, 2011, 7-10pm at Blank Space Gallery & Lounge, across the street from the downtown library. $5 admission.

Drawing its name from the Japanese term for “chit chat,” PechaKucha rests on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds. It’s a format that makes every presentation concise, and keeps things moving at a rapid pace.

Participation as a guest or speaker is not limited to any profession, discipline or walk of life. All you need is a great story to tell and a good sense of timing. If someone is interested in presenting, they should email Eddie and Dustin.

Each event has eight presenters and it occurs three or four times a year. So if you wanted to speak but didn't get on one program, you might be able to be on the next.

History:
PechaKucha Night was devised in Tokyo in 2003 as a way for young designers and architects to meet, network, and show their work in public. Since then, it has turned into a global presentation phenomenon, with events happening in hundreds of cities worldwide—inspiring creative people of all kinds.

Press Reviews:
“The antidote to bad PowerPoint. The 20- slides-for-20-seconds-each rule translates into a focused, informative presentation… the crowd erupted in applause.”
-Orlando Sentinel, October 2010

“Tend(s) to attract a pretty creative crowd… (with) the potential to turn into fast paced (and dare we say it, interesting) evenings. I am eager to see what PechaKucha can become in Orlando.”
-Orlando Weekly, October 2010
