ReThinking the City is a monthly symposium that considers the possibilities of an urban environment every 4th Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm. There are three presentations, two local ones, that are Pecha Kucha type: 20 slides, 20 seconds each, followed by short Q&A sessions. The panel of Eliza Harris, Dr. Julian Chambliss, Pat Greene along with that months presenters will facilitate the discussion. The third presentation is by someone from out of town, via Skype.
The next ReThinking the City is Tuesday August 23, 2011, 6:30pm - 8:30pm.
This months out of town presenter will be Dawn Weleski, who helps run the Conflict Kitchen in Pittsburgh. The Conflict Kitchen serves food from countries that the US is in conflict with. Each month the restaurant changes interior design as well as menu. The point of the restaurant is to bring a face to the culture we're in conflict with.
The two local presenters this month are John Rife, one of the creators of the Winter Park Harvest Festival and loval figure who's been very succesful at showing urbanites a more sensible way to live and eat, and The Daily City's own Mark Baratelli.
