There's a "music and literary mashup" September 20, 2011, 7pm, at Urban ReThink. Jubal's Kin will be performing an original song based on the novel, Carry Yourself Back to Me, while the book's author, Deborah Reed, will be on hand.
Art imitates life imitates music: Join Jubal's Kin in welcoming bestselling author Deborah Reed back to her childhood home of Orlando for the debut of her critically acclaimed novel, Carry Yourself Back to Me. With a broken heart, a stalled career, and a troubled family,Carry Yourself Back to Me heroine and singer-songwriter Annie Walsh seeks refuge at her secluded home, surrounded by a lush Florida tangelo grove and the company of her old dog Detour. Inflected with melancholy and redeemed by melody, this deeply affecting novel, which Publisher's Weekly called a "triumph," is certain to strike a resonant chord in the heart. Jubal's Kin will be performing an original song by Zia McCabe (of the Dandy Warhols) based on the novel, Carry Yourself Back to Me, as well as their own Appalachia-infused Americana originals. Some of the book sale proceeds will go to a fund to support arts in Orlando. Deborah will also be doing a reading at Rollins (Bush Stadium) the same day as the Urban Re-Think event.
