Did you miss it last year? It's back! The kick off party for the 5th annual City of Orlando Hispanic Heritage Month is Thursday, September 15, 2011, 5-5pm at City Hall Rotunda (400 South Orlando Ave). Free admission. Public is welcome.
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, District 2 Commissioner Tony Ortiz and the City of Orlando will host the event which will feature food from local Hispanic vendors as well as a showcase of Hispanic art and performances.
City of Orlando Hispanic Heritage month, Sept 15 to Oct 15, 2011, honors the culture and traditions of U.S. residents who trace their roots to Spain, Mexico and the Spanish-speaking nations of the Central America, South America and the Caribbean. The starting date coincides with the anniversary of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua declaring their independence in 1821.
