Photos: Vampires Ball Opened Last Night

Last night Orlando Ballet opened their three-night run of Vampire's Ball at Bob Carr Performing Arts Center in downtown Orlando. This is a ballet for those of you out there who love vampires, zombies, Frankenstein and gothic horror, with a slight tongue-in-cheek wink at the audience throughout.

We're introduced to a giant house with a mad scientist, two Vampire lovers and a horde of zombies. A young couple dressed in white, somehow ends up at this scary mansion and both are soon transformed: the male into a vampire and the female, through a shot of some potion or concoction, into a crazy person. At the end of Act One, a voice is heard telling the audience what the hell is going on in case anyone is confused and what will come in act two. We won't give away what happens in Act Two!

The dancing was lovely and at times it seemed like there were 40 dancers on the stage. Awesome! The lighting, costumes and set are of course bathed in black. The music, though canned, is appropriate and erie, and even at one point, features Adele. That will be the only time we'll hear her music on a stage that huge since she announced the cancellation of all her North American dates.
