Why Mama Fu's Didn't Work Before and Why It Will Work Now

Mama Fu's is looking for franchisees in Orlando, but as I learned from a few of our foodie twitter followers, the chain had already opened and closed a franchise here years ago. So just out of curiosity, I contacted David Boatright, CFE, Director of Franchise Sales at Mama Fu's with this email:

Hello,

retweeted a story about your company wanting to come into Orlando, and a couple folks responded that there was a Mama Fu's here 5 or 6 years ago. Is that true? Just curious. Why do you think the restaurant didn't work then and why do you think it will work now? Thanks.

Mark

And here's David's response:

Mark, thanks for the feedback. A simple answer is our concept back then was very different than the Mama Fu’s of today – the current brand is much improved now with different branding, prototype, service model, delivery model, enhanced menu, marketing capability, customer profiling, etc. See the attachments for additional stories. But to answer directly, the Mama Fu’s opened in Orlando 7+ years ago was under the prior franchisor who did not have the adequate infrastructure or experience to open and support franchise locations. The actual location was very poor in visibility, access and parking, should never have been accepted by the prior franchisor and would never have been approved by the current franchisor.

I hope this explanation helps with your readers. That said, we are still looking for qualified franchise candidates for the Orlando market and other areas within the state of Florida.
