About Occupy Orlando: (taken from their site)

Occupy Orlando is a people-powered movement that began officially on Oct 15, 2011 in Senator Beth Johnson Park, in solidarity with over 1,500 cities in the United States and around the world. We are empowering citizens to fight back against the corrosive power major banks and multinational corporations wield in our government and the role of Wall Street in creating an economic collapse that has caused the greatest recession in generations. The movement aims to expose how the richest 1% of people are writing the rules of an unfair global economy that is foreclosing on our future.
Occupy Orlando is NOT affiliated with any other organization. It is a non-violent, non-partisan movement with members that are as varied as they are numerous. While we may not all see eye-to-eye on many issues, we believe our diversity only strengthens us further as we exercise our constitutional right to peaceably assemble and petition our government to redress our grievances in our quest to attain positive change.
The occupations around the world are being organized using a non-binding, consensus based, collective, decision-making tool known as a “people’s assembly”. To learn more about how to use this process to organize your local community to peacefully fight back against social injustice, please read this quick guide on group dynamics in people’s assemblies.
The participation of every person and every organization that has an interest in returning our democracy back into the hands of its citizens is required. Our nation, our species and our world are in crisis. America has an important role to play in the solution, but we can no longer afford to let corporate greed and corrupt politics set the policies of our nation — they do not reflect our voices, and we do not believe they have our best interests at heart.
OccupyOrlando.org is the ONLY official resource for information and a platform for communication regarding the Occupy movement in Orlando. It is maintained by the Occupy Orlando Media Team, which is a working group of the Occupy Orlando General Assembly.
