Dance for Parkinson’s is a safe, stimulating and enjoyable movement activity specially designed for persons with Parkinson’s disease, their caregivers, families and friends. Already offering music therapy, the Florida Hospital Neuroscience Institute’s Parkinson’s Outreach Center will expand its services to include the only Dance for Parkinson’s program in Central Florida. The classes feature renowned approach from the nationally recognized Dance for PD® program designed and developed by the Mark Morris Dance Group and Brooklyn Parkinson Group. Classes will begin January 20 and will be offered once a month through June. Classes cost $7.50 per person or $10 a couple.
Founded in 2001, Dance for PD’s® primary goal has been to offer people with Parkinson’s disease dance classes where they can feel empowered to explore movement and music in ways that are stimulating and creative. Since 2005, they have expanded the Dance for PD program into more than 40 other communities around the world by training teachers through intensive workshops.
The Florida Hospital Neuroscience Institute Parkinson’s Outreach Center is the only outreach center in Central Florida dedicated to improving the quality of life of people with Parkinson’s disease and their loved ones. In addition to the new dance therapy classes, the center offers a variety of services including support group meetings, an online support group, exercise and dance classes, music therapy sessions, educational materials and clinical referrals.

Community members interested in a FREE preview of the program taught by Dance for PD founding teacher of the Mark Morris Dance Group may participate in the Dance for PD statewide training workshop on Wednesday, January 11 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. at the Florida Hospital Seventh Day Adventist Church.
