Big Tree Park (930 N. Thornton Ave. in the Mills50 District) is named after the over 500 year old Southern Live Oak tree that dominates the site. This 0.7 acre park is nestled into the surrounding Lake Highland neighborhood and is shaded by the Big Tree’s wide canopy. Benches in the shade make this small park the perfect quiet place to enjoy a good book. Leashed pets are allowed at all City parks, but not in playgrounds or athletic fields.
