2,260 Backpacks Given to Needy Kids by Florida Hospital
The annual 2012 Florida Hospital Backpacks for Kids campaign collected 2,260 backpacks for students grades K through 5. The backpacks were stuffed full with a year's worth of pencils, crayons, folders, notebooks and other supplies. Donations came from hospital employees, Ace Hardware, and the community. This program has gone on for over 10 years. We asked the hospital how the bags got into the hands of the kids and which kids received them. When we have an answer, we will share.
