Florida Opera Theatre Sings Its Face Off

The 2012-13 Florida Opera Theatre Season will have two operas and three special events including (1) a three-performance concert series in downtown Winter Park, (2) Puccini’s GIANNI SCHICCHI and (3) Menotti’s THE TELEPHONE. Tickets for the Concerts in the Park are $55 for the three-concert series. Single tickets go on sale August 15 for $20 each. Tickets for all concerts and operas may be purchased online at the website or send a check written to: Florida Opera Theatre. The 3-performance concert series "Opera in the Park, A Winter Park Opera Concert Series," is to be held in downtown Winter Park in an intimate setting: Winter Park Wedding Chapel (301 West New England Ave). Featured singers were winners at the Florida Regional Metropolitan Opera Auditions and progressed to higher levels of The Metropolitan Opera’s competition:
  • Friday, September 7, 6 p.m., Baritone Kenneth Stavert
  • Friday, September 14, 6 p.m., Soprano Samantha Barnes Daniel
  • Friday, September 21, 6 p.m., Soprano Janette Zilioli
Giacomo Puccini’s GIANNI SCHICCHI will have two performances: 
  • Saturday, December 8: Time and venue to be announced
  • Sunday, December 9: Time and venue to be announced
Gian Carlo Menotti’s THE TELEPHONE will include "A Musical Revue of Ringing Proportions presented in collaboration with The Maitland Art and History Museum. The location is the Art & History Museums-Maitland's Germaine Marvel Building, 210 W. Packwood Ave., Maitland, followed by a reception with cash bar in the gallery. Guests will be invited to tour the Maitland Art and History Telephone Museum. 
  • Saturday, January 26, 2013, matinee and evening performances
  • Sunday, January 27, 2013, matinee performance
