4Rivers Opening in Gainesville to Compliment the Coming Trader Joes

Gainesville is getting a Trader Joes and now they're getting a 4Rivers! John Rivers of 4 Rivers Smokehouse announced today his restaurant is slated to take over the space currently occupied by McAlister’s Deli in the Butler Plaza at 3262 Southwest Archer Rd. Gainesville, FL 32608. The new space will be 5,050-square-feet, will seat 125 guests, and will open in May or June of 2013. 

 Located on Archer Road, approximately 7 minutes from the University of Florida main campus, the  smokehouse plans to hire the majority of its staff from the school and surrounding campuses to create employment opportunities for the student body.

The Central Florida smokehouse known for its 18-hour smoked brisket and southern-style sides has been awarded “Best Barbecue” by Florida Travel and Life, Orlando Sentinel, Orlando Business Journal and Orlando Magazine. Rivers has also been invited to and participated in Meatopia in Brooklyn, New York; the 10th Annual Perrier-Jouët BubbleQ and Moët Hennessy's The Q. Rivers was most recently featured in Restaurant Business, Plate Magazine, Cooking with Paula Deen and named in Cooking Light’s 2012 Taste Test Awards list. In August 2013, Rivers will cook at the James Beard House.
