Downtown Disney has three recent stories of note: the 37th Festival of the Masters art event returning soon, the new personalized princess dolls currently available (by appointment only) inside the World of Disney store, and construction delays. In all three of it's shopping and entertainment districts.
1. Pleasure Island
The biggest delay of course will be Pleasure Island/Hyperion Wharf. It's completely canceled due to it's concept being to similar to the boardwalk behind the Boardwalk Hotel. No word yet on what will replace
2. Martketplace
Over in the Marketplace area, the Rainforest Cafe is being remodeled. However, DaMouse is reporting that it's new, much improved rooftop volcano has been delayed and now won't be finished until at least January. Even that seems like a bit of a stretch.
3. West Side
On the other side of the complex in the West Side, Splitsville is now reporting a Media Preview in December. Save Pleasure Island, arguably the leading source on Florida's Downtown Disney, believes that this will be a construction tour preview meaning that the 'Fall 2012' opening of the bowling and dining center is no longer accurate.
This now means there are delays in every single section of Downtown Disney.
Disney is planning a major press event on December 7th. Some seem to think that Downtown Disney will be mentioned at this event, though at this point, there seems to be little evidence of this. Most indications seem to point to this press event to be focused on New Fantasyland and Test Track with Avatar also a strong possibility.
In other Downtown Disney news Fresh A-Peel within Pollo Campero (also home to BabyCakes NYC) has now been updated and changed. It is now Bodie’s All-American (Am I the only one who thinks this is an awful name?). The menu of salads, wraps, and sandwiches will remain the same. The signage has already been changed, so I guess at least one project at Downtown Disney isn't delayed.
