In what could one day be the health information version of the Middletown studies yesterday Johnson & Johnson's Wellness and Prevention, Inc. announced a new multi-year longitudinal research study within the Lake Nona community in southeast Orlando. The first-of-its-kind study, known as the Lake Nona Life Study, will explore health challenges while testing new health initiatives. Residents, employers, employees, and students are all able to participate in the study that will ultimately create a database of health information. In a certain vein the study with it's initiatives is reminiscent to what Walt Disney had initially envisioned for EPCOT just a few miles away.
"Everyone is looking for a sustainable model around wellness," said Sunjay Gupta, president of Wellness & Prevention, Inc. "The Lake Nona Life Study carves out a unique opportunity for business, academia, government, and medicine to unite on this issue and collect data beyond traditional channels. It's a rare chance to study wellness on a large scale and care for individuals and communities at the same time."
If you do live in the Lake Nona area make sure to stop by The Food Truck Bazaar this Sunday when it visits the Crosspointe Church's Fall-A-Palooza from 5PM till 8PM. Kiddie rides and music will also be at the event. Hopefully all this food truck goodness won't throw off the study!
