Orlando Sentiel Confused About Name of Hurricane?

By Ken Storey

There are 212,365 people in the United States with the name Sally, but there are currently zero hurricanes with that name.  The Orlando Sentinel though seemed to be a bit confused about this today, before the properly named Sandy was upgraded from a Tropical Storm to a Hurricane.  This screenshot from this morning shows that both the names Sandy and Sally being used.  Sandy is a much less popular name than Sally with only 97,531 people in the United States with that name. As of this afternoon the Orlando Sentinel site had erased all the references to Sally.

Don't forget Hurricane Season lasts till the end of November.  Right now there are two storms in the Atlantic, while Tropical Storm Tony is just doing his thing with no threat to land Hurricane Sandy is one that we here in Central Florida need to be watching a bit closer though it isn't expected to make landfall here.
