Seminole State College has announced a massive expansion and re-imagining of it's Altamonte Springs campus.  While this area of Central Florida is the second-largest employment center after downtown Orlando, with 72,738 daytime workers, it has never really had a central retail and food district.  The new campus plan that calls for a mix of 950,000 square feet of educational space and 450,000 square feet of commercial and retail space within eight mid-rise buildings creating a quasi -town center for the community surrounding the school along with creating an inviting environment for students.  The eight buildings will encircle a central lawn that will be lined with shops and offices.  Three car dealerships were purchased, equaling 28.57 acres, which will be retro-fitted and used for now until the nine phase expansion plans calls for the individual buildings to be torn down, most fall within a different phases.

The new plan calls for two large parking structures, both with ground floor retail and roof top tree planters and solar panels.
