WaWa Scores a Very Low 30 on Human Rights Campaign Buying Guide

By Ken Storey

WaWa, currently in the midst of an aggressive expansion in Central Florida, finds itself in the lowest ranking of the Human Rights Campaign's Buyers Guide with a score of 30. While the company does offer non-discrimination policy that includes sexual orientation and gender identity (thus the reason for the 30 points), the company appears to do little more.

The HRC guide states that the company does not offer domestic partner health insurance, equal health coverage for transgender individuals, or organizational LGBT cultural competency.

In a related, or unrelated (I'll let you decide that one) Romney seems to be a WaWa fan. Romeny is quoted as saying in support of WaWa “You press a little touchtone key pad… You touch this, touch this, touch this, go pay the cashier, and there’s your sandwich, It’s amazing!”
