Mayor Dyer to Work Along with Solid Waste Division staff to Deliver New 95 Gallon Recycling Containers

Today, Wednesday November 28, 2012 at 1pm, City of Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will work along with City of Orlando Solid Waste Division staff to deliver new recycling containers to residential homes in the Englewood and Ventura neighborhoods in the City of Orlando.
The 95 gallon carts will allow residents to put all their recyclables in one large container instead of separating the materials into the two bins previously used. The old bins will be reused for recycling in City facilities.

Single cart recycling is part of Green Works Orlando, the City’s sustainability initiative to engage everyone who lives, works and visits Central Florida in the effort to “go green.” The transition to single cart recycling will allow residents to nearly double the amount of material they can recycle.

To engage more residents in the City’s sustainability efforts, Orlando has launched GreenWorksOrlando.com. This interactive forum allows Orlando residents to provide feedback and further the ideas of other residents as to how to continue to make Orlando a more sustainable and livable community. These suggestions will be used as the foundation for Orlando’s future sustainability plans.
