Mako's Goes Native with History in Downtown Orlando Bars Thanks to Team Marketing Group

Keith and Romi Mawardi, the founders of TMG (Team Market Group) are about to make a bigger mark on Downtown Orlando nightlife than they did when they opened Tier nightclub.

TMG purchased four bars from Church Street Entertainment for an undisclosed amount. This leaves Church Street Entertainment with just one building left on a street it once dominated. The four bars TMG purchased are below:
  • 23
  • Mako's (to be turned into Native)
  • Backroom
  • Oakroom

Three of the bars will remain as-is: 23, Backroom and Oakroom. Mako's, once billed as 'The World's Wildest Party Bar," is getting a full makeover. Did you know that back in 2007, Mako's had its own MTV reality show, Wild Girls of Makos? Shot girls, swings, and Spring Break students filled each episode. The girls and swings will be replaced by an historic theme based around Orlando.

TMG is also developing The District on the corner of Orange Ave and Washington Street that will feature three new bars, including a country-western bar, which Orlando hasn't seen since ":08" closed a few years ago.

Below are photos taken December 2012 before the Mako's-to-Native refurbishment begins.
