Tavares is quickly growing as 'America's Seaplane City' and now it looks like surrounding cities are now beginning to benefit.  The Orlando Sentinel is reporting Wipaire, a Minnesota based aviation company with an international clientele  is planning a regional service center at the Leesburg International Airport.  The 20,000sq ft hanger and office space would be designed to service the 'floats' that allow Seaplanes to land on the water.  The article also states that Leesburg may go forward with a plan to add a seaplane ramp at one end of a runway that connects to a waterway.  Wipaire had looked throughout the southeast before deciding on Leesburg, due in part to it's location near Tavares.
