NORA Brings More Development to Uptown (er, North Quarter)

NORA (North Orange Residential Apartments), a new six story 247 unit apartment complex in Uptown, has broken and is currently adding a ton of in-ground infrastructure. The apartment building will also include 15,000sq ft of ground level retail. The developer, GDC Properties, is also developing Aloft, the new hotel project in the former OUC building on South Orange Ave. GDC seems to be going with the North Quarter name instead of the more popular Uptown term. The name for the district has caused much debate locally but Craig Ulster, the local developer behind many of the projects in the district, has embraced the North Quarter name. NORA is seeking LEED certification. Rental rates in the new building are expected to range from the low $1000s to the mid $2,000s.

The new development will add 15ft wide sidewalks along Orange Ave instead of these three foot ones. 13ft wide sidewalks will be added along Marks Street as well.
