Orlando Museum of Art | Contemporary Glass Sculpture: Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Studio Glass

Dale Chihuly, Rainbow Seaform Set, ca. 2001, blown glass, 13 x 30 x 32 in., collection of Arnold and Susan Bierman

The Studio Glass Movement was initiated in 1962 by Harvey K. Littleton and Dominick Labino, who developed innovative practices that allowed individual artists to create one of a kind works in a studio setting.  The Orlando Museum of Art (2416 North Mills Ave., Orlando, Florida) opened a 7,000 square foot exhibit to celebrate a milestone for the movement called "Contemporary Glass Sculpture: Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Studio Glass" on December 12, 2012.

This exhibition, currently on display, features more than 60 exemplary glass sculptures by renowned masters of the Studio Glass Movement including:
  • Harvey K. Littleton
  • William Morris
  • Dale Chihuly
  • Lino Tagliapietra
The pieces come from private collections, galleries and the artists themselves. Be sure to bring your smart phone to scan the QR codes next to each piece. You'll learn additional information on how the pieces were created.
