Healing Arts: The Story of Survival Exhibits Art By Local Cancer Patients



Yesterday we shared with you information about two artists whose work will be on exhibit this evening at the Sanford Art Walk this evening.  Last night an exhibit opened at CityArts Factoy that has works on display that patients at the MD Anderson Cancer Center Orlando did.  Healing Arts: The Story of Survival tells the story of journey through cancer from diagnosis and treatment to the on-going surviorship. 

The MD Anderson – Orlando Artist-in-Residence program is a weekly opportunity for patients to work alongside two local artists using a wide range of medium such as painting, scrapbooking, and journaling.  The program, a partnership between BakerBarrios Architects and United Arts of Central Florida, has served more than 1000 cancer patients since its launch in 2011.

The exhibit at CityArts Factory runs through March 16, 2013 and is open Tuesdays through Saturdays 11a-6p.  Admission is free.
