Taylor Swift (Twitter | Facebook) played at Amway Center on Thursday and Friday night with special guests Ed Sheeran and Brett Eldredge.
Applause and yells erupted through Amway Center when the lights dimmed and “State of Grace” starting playing. A red curtain lifted and revealed pop star Taylor Swift dressed in black, high waisted leather shorts and a fitted long sleeved lace shirt. Her signature red lipstick matched her red fingernails, microphone and sequin shoes. Swift stood in awe in front of the sold-out crowd and smiled.
Swift performed most of the songs off the Red album and “Sparks Fly”, “Love Story” and “You Belong With Me” from her previous albums. Swift played different instruments throughout the show including a banjo, guitar and piano. Throughout the 2-hour show, Swift had the audience under a spell and was in control. Concert goers danced and sang as they waved their neon glow sticks and light up signs in the air.
Swift performed with great vocals, high energy, strong stage presence and had a lot of interaction with her fans. She was excellent at connecting with the audience. Swift talked about her persona in the media and that most tabloid stories aren’t true, stories behind her music and her recent trip to Disney World.
The show was a well-done production visually and musically. The set designs, wardrobe and choreography frequently changed which took the audience through the stories of the songs.
Swift had eight wardrobe changes throughout her set. Some of the outfits included a long, elegant white dress, a red dress with a deep v neck, a black dress with sheer sleeves with an intricate design, an all-white outfit that consisted of shorts, knee-high boots and a buttoned jacket and a red mad hatter outfit.
There were many highlights of the show. Swift and her back-up singers transformed into a 1960s girl-group for “You Belong With Me” and wore beautiful red dresses. A black-and-white film introduced Swift’s performance of “The Lucky One”. Swift performed a mashup of “Stay Stay Stay” and “Ho Hey” by The Lumineers. During the performance of “22” Swift was carried by dancers through the pit touching fans’ hands on the way to a second, smaller stage on the floor.
On the second stage, Ed Sheeran joined Swift for a duet of “Everything Has Changed”. For “All Too Well” Swift played the piano and it was one of the more intimate performances of the night.
The night ended with a spectacular performance of “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and Swift performed on a floating stage, suspended from the ceiling to get closer to fans in higher sections of the arena while confetti poured from the ceiling.
