Does your family like baseball? Do you have an extra bedroom that you could spare for the summer?

Well if you do and you live in the Winter Park area the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs would love to have you host some of their players.  The Diamond Dawgs play at the Rollins baseball stadium just off Orange Ave near Winter Park Fish Co.  The team is part of the Florida Collegiate Summer League, a non-profit wood bat baseball summer league for college athletes.  Other teams in the league include the Deland Suns, Leesburg Lightning, College Park Freedom, Orlando Monarchs, and the Sanford River Rats.

Players arrive during the first week of June and stay through the first week in August.  One of the ways that the team helps connect to the local community is through host families.  Ideally each host family would be able to host two players but even one is fine.  The players will need a stable, clean and healthy environment with access to a washer, dryer and refrigerator.  Also remember these are college students age 18-21 so they'll be pretty tight financially so a few meals each week would also be a great help.  Players do provide their own transportation and maintain very strict moral standards including NCAA guidelines.

Families have the option to be compensated $50 per week for their efforts if they wish and they receive two season passes to Diamond Dawg games. If your family is interested in housing a player (or two) this summer, please contact Winter Park Diamond Dawgs GM Cody Leiffer at 407-459-0272 or via email at cleiffer@floridaleague.com.
