On Tuesday June 11, 2013 Busch Gardens Tampa announced its
newest ride. Falcon’s Fury will top in
at 335 feet tall, making it the tallest free standing drop tower in North
America.
Riders will ride to the top in a normal seated fashion before tilting 90 degrees while at over 300 feet in the air then without warning they will plummet towards the earth at 60mph while facing directly towards the ground. That face-forward faster than gravity fall makes this drop tower the first of its kind. With 3Gs of force the ride will give riders more g-force than a space shuttle launch. The massive tower will be visible throughout Busch Gardens and easily visible from outside the park including from University of South Florida just up the street.

Construction for the new ride has already begun. It will replace Sandstorm, which closed a few
weeks ago, in the Timbuktu area of the park.
