On July 3, I told you that Winter Park's popular Japanese steakhouse and sushi bar Wazzabi (1408 Gay Rd, Winter Park) had abruptly shut down. (Hat tip to Scott Joseph.) But why? The only bit of information known was that in 2012, the owner shot a gun at a customers car.
I found two notes on a recent stop. (See below) One was from Coca Cola saying there was beverage equipment belonging to Coca Cola locked inside the restaurant. A note of this nature is not uncommon when restaurants close, as often, the soda fountains are owned by the beverage vendors, not restaurants. This does, however, show that the closure was sudden and highly unlikely that the vendor received any notice.
The next note is event more telling. A Notice of Tax Lien is found on both the side door and the back door. Warrant #2012-000354 for a Tax Lien in the amount $2,627.73 that was dated July 3rd, 2013.
The inside of the restaurant appears void of decorative items, tables and chairs, and electronic items like the large flat screen televisions once scattered about the interior.

Computers, seating, and most other items are gone, but Coca Cola's items are still inside. |
