Austin, Texas based coffee start-up Briggo has debuted their new, fully automated coffee kiosk. The first kiosk will be installed at the University of Texas at Austin later this month. This isn't your typical cardboard cup behind a flimsy clear plastic door type of coffee kiosk though.
A touch-screen and smart phone app allows for multiple layers of complexity in each drink. The app allows you to share your drink recipes, choose your pick-up time and auto-tweet your pick-up time.
The app will be available on both Android and iPhone.
The machine only uses sustainable high-altitude Latin America direct trade coffee and also comes equipped with a number of flavored syrups.
Scott McMartin, Briggo’s vice president of coffee strategy and operations comes from Starbucks, where he oversaw coffee sourcing from the time it was a small 6 store operation. Tim Kirn, who oversaw customer experience at Starbucks, has also joined the Briggo team as Briggo’s Director of Coffee Products and Customer Experience.
Designed by world famous designer Yves Behar and his Fuseproject team, the machine features a small window that gives a peek at Briggo's patented robotics while also showing the wait times and progress in the coffee queue.
Chief Executive Officer Kevin Nater explains why he believes the machines will work. “We believe the overall coffee experience must include convenience and predictability. Our Coffee Haus creates artisan coffee drinks 24/7 with a level of accuracy never before seen in the coffee world, and the automated ordering system via the Briggo mobile website streamlines the process. Our customers easily, quickly get their favorite coffee the exact same way, every single time, without any hassle or wait.”
Briggo is currently in talks with a number of airports, hospitals, universities and corporate campuses for the machines.
