Orlando Hipsters' Weekly Top 5: August 5-9, 2013

Hey hip kids! OH here bringing you a new segment- my weekly Top 5 List of where you should be each night of the boring workweek. It changes each week, so be on the look-out for new fun things to try and places to be! As always, "Don't go out without checking here first!"

Monday, August 5, 2013 - 6pm: Audubon Park Community Market in the Stardust parking lot
I don't usually choose recurring events, but on the off chance that there's nothing else that catches your fancy on Monday, the Audubon Park Community Market is always a great standby. Located in the Stardust Video & Coffee parking lot, this is your best bet for shopping local. Pick up some organically-grown veggies and plants, handmade jewelry and beauty products, artwork, desserts, and much more. You can usually catch some live local music, too.

Tuesday, August 6, 2013 - 10pm: Bad Wolf Art Night at The Peacock Room, hosted by Kyla Rene'
I'm actually really curious as to what this night will entail... Hosted by one of Orlando's premiere dancers, Kyla Rene', this event promises live local music accompanied by organically created improv dance. I'm intrigued! The question is, which local music and which improv dancers? And does this event have anything to do with Doctor Who??

Wednesday, August 7, 2013 - Wednesday Night Pitcher Show: Deep Blue Sea (1999) at Enzian Theater
I don't know about you, but watching/mocking cheesy old horror movies about sharks eating people is one of my favorite pastimes, and doing it at the Enzian Theatre for FREE with a group of similarly-minded snarkmongers is even better. AND THEN they throw in movie trivia and the prizes are jello shots... Sign me up.

Thursday, August 8, 2013 - Roadkill Ghost Choir, The Eastern Sea, Easter Island at Will's Pub
Roadkill Ghost Choir is hands down my favorite band to come out of this town (well, Deland, but we can claim that, right?) Seriously, if you have the chance to see them, and you do on Thursday, don't miss it.

Friday, August 9, 2013 - 6pm: The S0lution Art Collective Opening Exhibit at Sleeping Moon Cafe
Not even mentioning how much I love Sleeping Moon, I'm a sucker for a good art show. Mosey around, take a look at some art, catch some live music, get an Italian soda... what's not to love? It's the perfect opportunity to get your dose of culture early before you go out and get smashed. And I say that with love :)
