Against Me! play The Beacham this Saturday (January 25th) with The Sidekicks and The Shondes. Click here for tickets and info
Against Me! have a new album out today, called 'Transgender Dysphoria Blues,' and it's a pretty significant one. There have been changes in personnel since the band's last record. They're no longer on a major, having started their own label, Total Treble. Oh, and it's the first since singer Laura Jane Grace came out as transgender. That monumental life event is the focus of a couple of songs, including the rabble-rousing title track. Elsewhere, the band is just as anthemic, polemic and fierce as ever. 'Black Me Out' is a rage-filled tirade against unnamed music industry types. 'Unconditional Love' is a nice old-fashioned rock and roll song. For a band that once sang "Let's try and keep as much emotion out of this as possible", they're not very good at following that advice, thank goodness.
This is a perfect time to catch the band live, too. Having been based out of Gainesville for a long time, they're no strangers to playing in Orlando, but on the heels of this album, this ought to be a particularly special night to catch them.
