The Art & History Museums – Maitland (231 W. Packwood Avenue) is opening two new exhibitions: Film Stories March 14-May 25 and Moving Pictures March 14-April 30.
- Film Stories features sculptural works by artist Nancy Cervenka, who manipulates long strands of coiled celluloid into twisting objects.
- Moving Pictures is a collection of images captured while artist Joyce Ely-Walker traveled across the country by train.
An Opening Reception for both exhibitions, presented in partnership with Enzian Theater and Florida Film Festival, is held on Friday, March 14, from 5:30 to 8:00 PM in the Maitland Art Center Galleries. The reception begins with a program titled “Ten Questions With Nancy Cervenka” at 5:30 PM. A&H Curator of Art Rebecca Sexton Larson will ask Cervenka ten questions that she was not privy to beforehand, so guests can learn more about this artist, her work, and career. Admission to the reception is free to A&H Members, and $5 to not-yet-members. The $5 admission fee includes admission to Culture Pop!, Roll, Repeat, held that evening from 7:00 to 11:00 PM.
