The first ever Run for Rescues happened this past weekend at The Mall at Millenia. It was sheer puppy heaven as the ASPCA (now named Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando) hosted not only a fashionable 5k, but also a 1k puppy run. Costumes were encouraged for both so you know I tutu-ed up!

The event also provided a training program to get ready for the event and health screening before and after the races. Sanlando Springs Animal Hospital and Rocky's Retreat provided canine health screenings and demonstrations. Florida Hospital Healthy 100 provided human health screenings and  Florida Hospital Women's Mobile Coach was there as well offering screening mammograms.

After the races, Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando's shelter hosted a meet the cats and dogs available for adoption. They also offer $10 micro-chipping for your dog (regularly $30) and $30 off adoptions all weekend long.

Runners and animal lovers be sure to keep an eye out for the yearly event to help the puppies! Remember, it's just like the Pet Alliance says, " Healthy pets and healthy people are always in fashion!"
