The last question on the ballot for 6th Annual 2014 TheDailyCity.com Audience Choice Awards asked voters "What would make the Orlando Fringe Festival better?" We thought it would be nice to share the responses. Let us know if you agree!
more parking availability.
instead of patron's picks having to be a 7 show run show, make it a percentage. for instance, 7 show runners sold 90% of house and 4 show runners sold 100% house. makes it more fair to me. petty cabs or some other transportation to the black venue. they need to recruit more volunteers! it seemed a little light this year. more healthy (or normal, let's be real) food that you could eat everyday and not feel sick. more salads, sandwiches, vegetarian, vegan, gluten free options.
having a valet service would make crazy money for the festival. let's do that!
shorter shifts for volunteers will attract more artists and patron's to help out between shows. it's really tough to convince people to give up 4 hours of their day in a single chunk, but an hour here or a couple there can add up very quickly.
better parking map on website.
make transportation to the black venue easier. shows at the black venue miss out on customers because of the distance.
turkey legs! street shows in between venues. performance venues outdoors, beautiful area for outdoor theatre1
more original musicals
only allowing original productions to perform.
merchandise tent or table for individual artists/shows. (cds, t-shirts, etc)
comfort satations / port o lets on the lawn. soft drinks and water available for purchase at orlando shakes.
more obvious signs for alternative parking options and directions.
more venues..so no one gets turned away. love the fringe
more food trucks
allow more new works, stop allowing returning shows, revivals are okay for published work only. also deny any parodies (stop making fun of others work until you can produce your own work.)
deny parodies, our brains deserve more than derivatives
i feel like another venue, and even more shows would be great. i think people would be interested in more options. i wish there was a way that each show could advertise all around orlando and the surrounding areas. so i think what i am saying is that more venues, more acts, and more audience. also i wish there was more opportunities for staff and artists to meet each other, i think it would be cool if we could have a few meet and greets throughout the festival that could possibly even be moderately catered. just some suggestions though i do admit that i love fringe no matter what.
more food that isn't fried.
a longer festival...maybe 3 weeks?1
more shows, better parking and cheaper beer.
a 10 pass for the beer. keep more shows up for nomination till the end. many of my choices got knocked off by the last day and i think that will skew the results. most people need all the time possible to actually see the choices!
getting local news and radio down ion the grounds covering the fringe and all the different folks that make it happen. a daily segment.
fix the parking, more variety of food vendors, get rid of all of the awards, including patrons' pick. we shouldn't be encouraging competition at this kind of event.
this was my first time at the festival and i was not aware of the extent of it. i'm not sure how you can fix that, because it could have been my lack of looking for the information online.
better, healthier food options (i.e. dandelion cafe). less cheap fried carnival food. i wish online ticket buyers could get a bulk discount. i went to 20 shows. also, the fees per ticket instead of per order are ridiculous.
valet parking
what would make this much better if you had a package deal to buy tickets to see all of the shows for one price so that they can come in to any show with a wrist band for that day or for multiple days. overall great festival i will def come next year!
parking...lol (maybe a real vegetarian vendor...deep-fried veggies aren't really a good healthy option.) otherwise....it was all great.
food - never saw the "healthy" or local restaurant options, something not fried like a wrap, salad would be appreciated; better mobile app for schedule and tickets
manage lines for venues better. better layout/placement of outdoor space. stronger choice of shows.
if there are bands playing, you should still sell beer....really?
want to know when tickets are sold out and what is available all in one place (either box office, web, or app).
add daily show schedule to fringe app
more fans in the beer tent!! #hot ;)
greater beer selection. allow a path to take cocktails from the lawn into the lowndes shakespeare theater. patrons are forced to drink cocktails quickly to make the line for their next show. better training for volunteers. some were giving out misinformation on where to buy tickets, etc.
either more vendors that accept credit cards or an easier access point for cash without having to pay $3.50 for it.
Outdoor fans.
it was great. no ideas on how to make it better
better direction and signage! it was difficult to figure out where i needed to go to get tickets or to find venues.1
sound throughout the lawn for outdoor stage. find more venue's outside loch haven; need more of that urban feel. work with sunrail to expand its hours and days of service.
a way to get to the black venue.
If your leave to go there after you paid for parking you cant come back unless you pay again to park maybe a shuttle for faraway locations
new ios app
more available parking, and better monitoring of ticket sales for particular shows in which people cannot cheat to win the patrons pick! everyone deserves a fair shot, and not the one man show fella who buys tickets himself to win.
show us what's playing today on the home page of fringe. i had to click 7 times to get todays showtimes. if you don't tell the page to sort by groups of 100, it would have been many more clicks. it would be nice and helpful to see what's playing right when you visit the site.
a little cooler weather but if you can do that, more power to you.
keep the 10 pass and offer a 25 pass!!!
the 10 pass - being able to redeem at rep the food selection organizing lines for venues (making people stand outside when waiting for the orange)
food vendors indoors!
better hours for visual fringe. i would love to see more popular food trucks at the fest, or pop-up restaurant style food vendors similar to what hawker's provided this year
more and better food vendors. more tables in the shade!!
more parking availability.
