The Abbey, in partnership with Gen Y Productions, presents the Tony Award-winning musical CABARET, January 29 through February 8. Tickets go on sale December 1.
Auditions for CABARET will be held November 19 and 20; call backs will be held on November 21.
Set in the 1930s as the Nazis are rising to power, CABARET tells the story of Cliff Bradshaw, an aspiring writer who has travelled to Berlin to find inspiration. While there, he happens a young performer, Sally Bowles, and the seedy Kit Kat Klub, overseen by the fervent Master of Ceremonies.
This production of CABARET is produced by Aaron Safer, Managing Member of Gen Y Productions, LLC, with direction by Kenny Howard, Artistic Director of Artful Events. Choreography is by Blue Star, with musical direction by John B. DeHaas, set design by Bonnie Sprung, lighting design by Roy Brown, and costume design by Kyla Swanberg.

- Seeking the following singing, dancing, and acting roles:
- The Emcee – The host of the Kit Kat Klub, a colorful, energetic and lovable character who preferably is presented gender neutral . Age range not specific. Vocal Range middle C to High C Sharp – great stage movement and dance. Speaks with a German Accent.
- Sally Bowles – A British singer headlining at the Kit Kat Club. Seemingly naïve but also struggles with the darkness of reality of which she is unable at times to ignore. Vocal Range Low A to High C – Soprano. Appearance Age Range 30-40s. Speaks with a British Accent.
- Cliff Bradshaw - An American writer teaching in Berlin, a closeted gay man exploring his sexuality. Vocal Range: Low E to High A- Tenor.
- Fraulein Schneider – landlady who owns the apartment building that Sally and Cliff reside in. Comfortable with stage movement and light dance (waltz). Vocal Range Low D to A flat above middle C – Alto. Appearance Age Range: 50+.
- Herr Shultz – a renter of Schneider’s and fruit shop owner who falls in love with her. Vocal Range – Low G to High F – Tenor. Appearance age range: 50+. Speaks with German accent.
- Ernst Ludwig - A friendly likable German who ends up being a Nazi. Comfortable with stage movement and light dance (waltz). Age Appearance: Not specific.
- Fraulein Kost - Prostitute in Fraulein Schneider’s building. Vocal Range Low A flat to High F – Alto/Mezzo. Age Appearance: 30s to 40s.
- Kit Kat Klub members - 3 females, 3 males, all ages, types, must have strong movement and dance skills.
- Also for a preshow-show we are seeking to audition unique, professional acts such as acrobats, contortionist, jugglers, burlesque, ballerinas and any other non-singing variety acts.
