-4 Ultimate Project Presentation at Orlando City Council

On Monday November 3rd at 10am, the I-4 Mobility Partners and SGL Constructors presented various facets of the I-4 Ultimate Project to Orlando City Council. We provided the video above so you can watch it live.

We took notes during the presentation. Unfortunately, the city's live-streaming failed around the 10:30am point of the presentation. Here's what we got:

General
  • $2.3 billion project
  • 21 miles long
  • runs from Kirkman past 434 in Seminole County

  • Weekday lane closures can happen as early as 8pm and as late as 7am.
Express Lanes:
  • They will add 4 express lanes down the middle (2 in each direction)
  • Can get into express lanes at Kirkman, Ivanhoe, one downtown point we missed and at 434
  • Dynamic tolling: price raises based on usage
  • No cash for tolls in express lanes. All electric.
  • No heavy/semi trucks allowed in these lanes
Start Date and Completion Date
  • Start Date: Feb 2015
  • Completion Date: 2020, with downtown being the last portion to be completed due to the amount of work to be done there
  • The entirety of the 21 mile stretch will have construction begin at the same time
Art

  • FDOT wants a distinct corridor and enhance the drivers experience.
