Lighting of Iconic ORLANDO Sculpture at the Orlando Citrus Bowl

Wednesday, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, City Commissioners and the City of Orlando Public Art Advisory Board will celebrate Downtown Orlando’s newest arts and cultural installation with the official lighting of the iconic ORLANDO sculpture at the Orlando Citrus Bowl.

The ORLANDO sign once crowned the scoreboard at the Orlando Citrus Bowl where it was seen by hundreds of thousands of stadium visitors through the years. Prior to demolition of the stadium one year ago, each of the seven individual letters were salvaged and have been transformed into the new 54-foot iconic ORLANDO sculpture.

Wednesday’s event will highlight the new ORLANDO sculpture and showcase the more than 100 color-changing LED lights that have been retrofitted into each letter.

Located at the base of the monumental stairs at the northeast corner of the Orlando Citrus Bowl, the sculpture is positioned at the “Front Door” of the stadium and once again welcomes visitors to Orlando and the new Orlando Citrus Bowl.
