This week to honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. Orlando is hosting a plethora of events.
This Thursday January 15th there will be a MLK Leadership held at the Florida A & M University College of Law ( 201 Beggs Avenue, Downtown Orlando). Though we were kicked out of most fraternities we are supporting this project put on by the Alpha Phi Alpha Frat and Florida University College of Black Law Student Association because they are discussing "Alphas for Justice Part 3: Community and Law Enforcement" (not that there's any issues with race and law enforcement).
On Friday, January 16th @ 11:30 Alpha Phi Alpha will also be hosting a commemorative luncheon with the theme of "Remember, Celebrate, Act King's Dream of Economic Justice!" with the Keynote Speaker Dorian Boyland of the Boyland Auto Group the Ballroom at Church Street 225 South Garland Avenue, Downtown Orlando. That same evening at 7pm you can enjoy a concert performance with award winning artists of word, song and dance at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Institutional Church ( 535 W. Washington Street, Downtown Orlando)
On Saturday, January 17th do not try to drive downtown on Orange Avenue around 10 am due to the 31st Annual MLK Holiday Parade. This years theme is "Remember, Celebrate, Act! King's Legacy of Courage for our World" and will be hosted by the southwest Orlando Jaycees. If you want to feel good about yourself call Roberta @ 407-929-7992 to volunteer.
