Gezellig is a Dutch word for that warm and fuzzy feeling you get when you're hanging out with people you like, the atmosphere is awesome and you like the place, food and people. That's considered "Gezellig."
It's also the new brand of Dutch cookies from local owner Cassandra Plas. She opened her online store just this past weekend, and has been selling at Winter Park Farmers Market for 6 weeks.
There are four flavors of Gezellig cookies:
Both the cookie and the caramel inside the cookie are homemade. Organic sugar is used in making both.
The cookie is traditionally used in this manner: Place the cookie over a hot cup of coffee. The heat will melt the caramel just a bit. You can also cheat and use the microwave them for 10 seconds. The owner's husband recommends eating them frozen with a shot of bourbon.
