For the second year in a row, Orlando holds the top spot as the city with the highest number of food trucks per person at 47.06 trucks per capita.
However, the data is tainted.
The numbers are made up from trucks signed up for the a Roaming Hunger app. But did they check to see if these trucks on the app are still open? They clearly did not, as evidenced by the two sample Orlando trucks they list in their press release: the Traveling Gourmet and Wako Taco.
Both are closed.
Beyond that, the press release says that the survey is based on 7,300 trucks in their network. However, I was emailed by someone from the company after they found my article and they said the 7,300 trucks were in their database. Being in someone's database is not being in their network, and I feel using the word network infers that these 7,300 trucks work with the website, which, based on my emails with this person from the company, is not true.
I went on the website and out of the over 100 food trucks they list for Orlando, 14 are closed permanently. See the food truck graveyard.
