The Downtown South Main Street Board approved changing the district's name from “Downtown South” to “SoDo.” The letter case is still being determined. (Now if we could only get the area north of Downtown currently called "The North Quarter" to go with "NoDo," we'd have ourselves a little downtown trifecta.
Locals have referred to the area as SODO for years. However, now it's official.

To go along with the SODO name change, a graphic rebranding of the district is in the works as well. SoDo Main Street Director Sarah Elbadri reported that a design brief was circulated to local designers and that the NID Board was also encouraged to recommend designers.
The work will be free or in-kind.
South Downtown is a 550-acre area generally bound by the East-West Expressway, S. Orange Avenue, Michigan Street, and I-4.
Given the area’s proximity to Downtown Orlando, South Downtown is envisioned as the next logical frontier for expanding and supporting the City core.
