The owners of Mathers Social Gathering, a new club scheduled to open February 2017 in downtown Orlando, invited us for a tour of the bar space while it's still under construction.

The bar is inside the Phoenix building on Pine Street just a few storefronts away from Red Mug Diner. The diner and Mathers Social Gathering are owned by the same company.
The bar is named after the Pheonix building's original name: Mathers. Much of the wood used throughout the space was salvaged from the building during renovations.
The space has extremely high ceilings and is currently being filled with antiques to sit on and stare at while sipping cocktails.
Floor to ceiling bookcases are the most striking visual element, and two areas of the space have them: a medium seating area facing the street and behind the main bar just to the right of the entrance.
The staircase leading up to the third floor space is brand new. The walls in the stairwell are white and will be doused with framed historical photos of downtown Orlando.
