How Much Does it Cost the City to Participate in the National Main Street Program?

$5,000 per year. That's what it costs the City of Orlando for the Trademark License Agreement and Coordinating Program Membership Agreement between the City of Orlando and the National Main Street Center (Website).

The annual Main Street Coordinating Partners Membership fee gives Orlando Main Streets the following:
  1. opportunity to enter into a licensing agreement to use NMSC Trademarks
  2. the ability to designate and accredit Main Street communities within service territory
  3. eligibility for National Main Street Center grant programs
  4. other special programs and special offers
  5. Great American Main Street Awards® (GAMSA) 
  6. eligibility for local communities served by coordinating program to apply for annual national awards
  7. discounted Registration for two for the Coordinators Meetings before National Main Streets Conference and the National Preservation Conference
  8. free Registration for two for the NEW Coordinator Orientation Session before National Main Streets Conference
  9. discounted registration for National Main Streets Conference for Coordinating Staff (for early bird deadlines)
  10. voting privileges for Coordinators Executive Committee
  11. Main Street Coordinator Web Page and List Serve Access
  12. subscription to Main Street Now
  13. subscription to Main Street Weekly
  14. unlimited access to NMSC-produced products and publications
  15. members’ only online content
  16. Main Street list serve

This fee doesn't cover the cost of running Orlando's Main Streets of course. That will cost $365,000 in 2017. But what the City and local businesses get from it is priceless.

The City of Orlando will fund each Main Street District for 2016-17:
  1. Orlando Tech- $40,000
  2. Audubon Park Garden District - $35,000 
  3. Church Street - $35,000
  4. College Park Partnership - $35,000 
  5. Downtown South - $35,000 
  6. Gateway Orlando - $35,000
  7. Ivanhoe Village - $35,000 
  8. The Milk District – $50,000
  9. Mills 50 - $35,000 
  10. Thornton Park District - $30,000
Total Costs to City of Orlando:

  2. $360,000 2017/18
