The downtown body of water known as Lake Eola, as far as unusable urban space goes, is king. It takes up the majority of space within one of our city's most visible and utilized parks, Lake Eola Park. It's vast acreage we can stare, watch swans swim across and that's it. It's dead urban space and everyone seems to be just fine with that.
We told you 2 years ago about our idea of putting a swimming pool inside Lake Eola. They're doing it in NYC so why not try it here? Well, we're back two years later with the same idea, this time presenting a different company for the task.
There's a company working on creating, inside existing lakes, "floating lagoons" according to Growthspotter. The company is called Crystal Lagoons. They take unused, basically dead bodies of water (like Lake Eola!) and transform them into recreational havens:
"Our floating crystal clear lagoons are installed within larger water bodies, connected to land via floating decks and bridges. Imagine a city with bodies of water that are currently unused becoming unique destinations: this can change and revitalize city life, providing a new and refreshing look."
