Rather than travel the country holding auditions in numerous cities, the new American Idol reboot will hold all of its auditions right here in Orlando at Disney World according to TMZ. This idea saves the production time and money and makes it work double duty as an advertising tool for the theme parks. The rumored start date is March 2018. Once the auditions are over, the show itself will be filmed in Hollywood.
Disney's Hollywood Studios used to have a live stage show modeled around this concept called "American Idol Experience." The host and judges of the reboot have not been revealed. ABC hasn't reached out to Ryan Seacrest. Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson, two highly successful former contestants from the original show, are already scheduled to be judges on The Voice, a competing show on another channel.
