First Street Market, a new brewery and interior multi-tenant shopping area is coming to downtown Sanford to the site of a former train depot. The 1940 building is located at 212 W. 1st Street (MAP) in the Downtown Commercial Historic District.
The name of the brewery is The Basin. The shopping area will be similar to Plant Street Market.
The developer behind the project submitted a certificate of Appropriateness request from the Historic Preservation Board September 27th. The Historic Preservation Board recommended approval with conditions. The applicant must return to the Historic Preservation Board with a new Certificate of Appropriateness application for door and pass thru window designs, exterior security coverings for the bar pass thru, and storefront details.
